Order of Precedence

Order of Precedence is a sequential heirarchy of rank. In the SCA, this takes the form of recognition of awards received, the rank of the award and when the person recieved it. In formal events, the Order of Precedence plays a part in how members of the SCA relate to each other. For example: in Crown tournament, combatants and their consorts are presented to the crown before the tournament in Order of Precedence.

In Atenveldt's Online order of precedence, a person need not have an award to be listed. With photos from a good portion of our populace, the OP works as a who's who in Atenveldt. Feel free to explore around a bit.

Aten OP Warranted Office
Verification Form

This form (fillable PDF; on the Forms page) may be used when asking the Aten Seneschal to verify a warranted office held within the SCA for inclusion in an individual's Atenveldt Order of Precedence record.

Court Reporting Form

This is the form that must be used by Court Heralds for all Kingdom and Baronial Courts. Copies of this form must be provided to at least the Abacus and Aten Principal Heralds; additional copies should be provided to the Royals (Crown or Coronet) holding court, and should also be kept on file by the reporting herald.

Order of the Black Chamfron

Award Charter

In Anno Societatis Forty-four, during the Reign of Their Royal Majesties Craven III and Elzbieta III there was created an award known as the Order of the Black Chamfron.

I. There shall exist in the Kingdom of Atenveldt an award, known as the Order of the Black Chamfron which may be given by the Crown to those persons who have demonstrated excellence and skill on the Equestrian tournament field and in the Equestrian Arts. These equestrians have also distinguished themselves in demonstrating leadership, honor on and off the equestrian tournament field; knowledge and practice of the courtly graces; consistent service to the Kingdom; and who have shown respect for the laws and customs of the Kingdom of Atenveldt.

II. The members of the Order shall be styled as Companions of the Black Chamfron and shall be entitled to place the initials C.B.C. after their names.

III. The insignia of the Order shall consist of a (Fieldless) A chamfron Sable charged with a sun Or

IV. The Order shall carry with it a Grant of Arms.

V. Companions of the Order shall take precedence after the Peerage but before simple Grants of Arms.

VI. Amendments to this charter shall be made by the Crown of Atenveldt.

VII. The Crown shall be the Principals of the Order and shall share all the rights, privileges and responsibilities of the Order.

VIII. The membership in the Order of all previous recipients of this award is hereby confirmed.
